COVID-19 Directive #3 for Long-Term Care Homes issued by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) establishes requirements for retirement homes to ensure the health and safety of its residents and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.  One requirement is that homes have operational policies and procedures in place for visitors, absences and activities that are compliant with Directive #3 and guided by the policies from the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility (MSAA) and the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA).  The Retirement Homes Policy to Implement Directive #3 was developed by the MSAA to provide support to retirement homes in implementing the requirements set out in Directive #3.

Accordingly, we adhere to the Retirement Homes Policy to Implement Directive #3 and to our Park View Visitor Policy which is tailored to the specific needs of our home, our residents and our staff.

More specifically, over the past year and a half, we implemented the following:

Closed our building to visitors in March 2020 ahead of provincial and health authority directives;
Regular screening of resident health;
PPE available to staff as required;
Active screening of visitors and staff;
Visitor restriction as required;
Increased cleaning and disinfecting of high touch surfaces;
Promotion of good hand hygiene;
Increased availability of hand sanitizer;
Regular email communications to families to provide updates to changing levels of restrictions.

Please feel free to contact us regarding these protocols if you have any questions.
